"The idea of charging for calls belongs
to the last century"
Niklas Zennström, CEO & Co-founder of Skype
What is Skype?
Skype is a little program for making free calls over the internet to anyone else who also has Skype. Download it (it’s free), install, create an account for you and start calling.
Calling regular phone numbers. With Skype, you can call other people even if they don’t have a computer. It’s called SkypeOut, and lets you call any phone number in the world at pretty low rates. Landlines, mobile phones... it works with almost all of them. SkypeOut is not free but it is pretty cheap, actually. |
Security using Skype Skype automatically encrypts everything before sending it through the internet. Likewise, on arrival everything is decrypted on-the-spot and presented as crystal clear speak, text or a file transfer nobody can intercept. |
